Foodie Penpal Reveal Day

Foodie Penpal Reveal Day

Today is Foodie Pen Pal Reveal Day here on Booksnob. This is my third time participating in the Foodie Pen Pals event and today I get to show you what I got in the mail.  I love food!  Doesn't everyone?

Lindsay from The Lean Green Bean blog has been running this event for over a year now.  Everyone is encouraged to donate food to the food shelf in the month of December and she will be organizing foodie penpals again in January.  If you want to sign up you must do so after December 18th, go to The Lean Green Bean.

I sent my food package to Stephanie in Michigan and I received my package from Amanda in Tennessee.
This is Amanda's website:   (http://romancingtheunusual.com)

My November has been busy with cleaning and cooking for Thanksgiving.  We served dinner for 32 people which included three turkeys and 20 pounds of potatoes.  My foodie package arrived on Saturday after the Holiday, just  in time for me to put my feet up and relax.  Here is what Amanda sent.

I told Amanda I want to eat more health foods including raw and sprouted foods.  So she got me Sprouted sweet potato tortilla chips and they are delicious.  Also included is carmel popcorn, apple clusters, and some awesome smelling Chai tea.  Chai tea is one of my absolute favorites as well as the pumpkin bread mix which I plan to make this weekend and top with a cream cheese topping.  Yum!

Did you notice the Elvis dark chocolate?  Dark chocolate is the best and my husband loves Elvis so naturally he wanted to keep the candy bar as a memento and I said no way!  I am eating it.  What would you do?  I cannot resist dark chocolate.

Here is the lovely note Amanda sent on a postcard from Tennessee.  Some day I want to visit there but until then I will enjoy some food from a beautiful place.

Thanks Amanda!!

Foodie Pen Pal Reveal Day!

Foodie Pen Pal Reveal Day!

Happy Halloween!  Today is Foodie Pen Pal Reveal Day here on Booksnob. This is my second time participating in the Foodie Pen Pals event and today I get to show you what I got in the mail.  I love food!  Doesn't everyone?

Lindsay from The Lean Green Bean blog has been running this event for over a year now.  If you want to sign up you must do so before November 4th, go to The Lean Green Bean.

I sent my food package to Catherine in Virginia and I received my package from Melissa from Illinois.

Her blog is Running with Needles, at runwithneedles.wordpress.com

My month of October was a bit stressful, with two deaths in the family and a full observation by the principal which was super time consuming.  The foodie package from Melissa arrived on a relaxing day off.  My daughter helped me open it and it was full of yummy snacks.

Here is the lovely note Melissa sent stating that she got most of my food from the local grocery store.  I love trying local food!  The Pumpkin bread was the best and I keep checking grocery stores around here for a similar loaf and I can't find any.  I might have to buy a mix and make my own.

Melissa included a bag of treats for my dog and he loves them.  I give him one a day.  I also got some delicious salsa and the funny thing is, I sent my foodie pen pal Catherine, salsa too.

I love these snacks and of course immediately devoured them.  I'm so glad I got the dark chocolate almonds (my absolute favorite) because my husband and kids don't like dark chocolate and I got to eat them all by myself!

Thanks Melissa!!

Foodie Pen Pals Reveal Day!

The Lean Green Bean
Foodie Pen Pals Reveal Day!!

Last month, I discovered the foodie blog, The Lean Green Bean.  Lindsay runs the Foodie Pen Pals and she has been running this program for over a year now.  I decided to try it for the first time in September (who doesn't love food) and today is reveal day, where I get to show you what I got in the mail.

If you want to sign up, go to The Lean Green Bean  before October 4th.  Anyone can participate, you don't need to be a blogger.  I already signed up and I am already busy planning what I am going to do for my October pen pal.

Last month on September 5th, I was e-mailed my pen pal.  Her name is Michele from Pennsylvania and these are her blogs,  www.shelze.blogspot.com and piratebootyfitness.blogspot.com
You can check out what I got her at these websites.

The person who had me was also named Michelle except she is from Massachusetts.  When my package arrived, my two excited kids helped me open it.  It was so exciting to see what was inside.

Michelle wrote a lovely note and talked about how she sent me some of her favorite things.  Some of the things she sent me I have never seen or heard of but I love expanding my foodie palette so I am thankful for everything she gave me.

So here is the list of goodies sent by Michelle.
Tazo Iced Passion tea.  You mix it with lemonade and it is delicious.  Seriously, this drink is awesome.
Pumpkin Butter.  I plan to make pumpkin bread and top it with this butter.
Chile Spiced Mangoes
Maple Champagne mustard.  Can't wait to try with pretzels as Michelle suggested.
Penzey's spices
       a.  Sandwich Sprinkle
       b.  Wasabi
(I have never, ever tried these spices, so I e-mailed Michelle and she sent me a pork recipe with Wasabi to try.  She also mentioned that she mixes it with sour cream to put on a baked potato)  Can't wait to cook it up for my husband.

I have been eating the Chile Spiced Mangos and they are spicy, sweet.  I have one every day when I get home from teaching and it is a special treat I have looked forward to all month.
You need to try this dried fruit, who knew it would be so good??

Thanks Michelle!!
I love everything.
Looking forward to next month.
